Nancy Pelosi’s so-called “Assault Weapons Ban” crashed and burned yesterday in epic fashion, but those in the gun rights world declaring total victory over Pelosi on this issue are misguided.
This bill is coming back in a few weeks, and when it does, Pelosi will have all of her ducks in a row.
Here’s what’s really happening inside Congress:
Battered by hundreds of thousands of petitions, calls and emails (250,000+ documented by AFA supporters), Members of Congress came under intense political fire over the last few weeks from gun owners across the country insisting they vote NO on H.R. 1808.
Because of this grassroots heat, so-called “moderate” members of Pelosi’s Democrat caucus — at risk of losing their seats in November — demanded she couple gun control legislation with another piece of “police funding” legislation in order to secure their vote on H.R. 1808.
Of course “police funding” legislation enraged the DEFUND THE POLICE crowd led by radical Communists Cori Bush from Missouri, Pramila Jayapal from Washington, and the rest of the Socialist Squad, who threatened to withhold their votes for the so-called “Assault Weapons Ban” until their demands were met.
Combine the grassroots gun owner heat, the “moderates” scared of losing their seats, and the enraged Socialists / Communists making demands, Pelosi simply didn’t have the votes yesterday and opted to punt the issue a few more weeks into August, possibly September.
Our sources on Capitol Hill indicate that Pelosi has first pegged mid-August for another “Assault Weapons Ban” push when the House may need to return to Washington to vote on the “reconciliation” bill currently being negotiated in the Senate.
If there’s no time then, Congress will continue on with their recess and return in September where Pelosi would make another push again for this bill.
Much of Pelosi’s Democrat caucus owes payback to the gun control crowd, namely billionaire Bloomberg and activists like David Hogg, who worked to get them elected in 2018 and 2020.
Hogg is RAGING on Twitter today, standing outside of Pelosi’s office demanding she pass this bill.
In a nutshell, gun owners are in for a long, protracted battle for what could be the next six weeks with Pelosi and the Democrats.
A few months back, AFA predicted in this email newsletter that Democrats would begin to move on “kamikaze”-style gun control, seeing that they are in for electoral slaughter in November.
We were 100% correct.
As Hogg made clear for the world to see on his Twitter account today, they’re waiting for the next high-profile shooting to make their next move not only in the House, but in the Senate as well.
We said two weeks ago that if we can stop Pelosi from passing this bill, it will be a major victory for our Second Amendment rights, and more importantly a major DEFEAT for her.
We won the first battle. But we’ve all got to lock arms together and win this war over the next six weeks.
